Adult Assessment

2

Autism Diagnostic Assessments

We complete diagnostic assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder in adults. The assessment involves a detailed clinical interview, review of school reports if available and administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS- 2). This is a semi-structured set of activities designed to assess various aspects of social interaction, communication skills and behaviour. It is also recommended that a parent or caregiver attend part of the assessment if possible to complete a standardized instrument-the Autism Diagnostic Interview- Revised (ADI-R). This instrument is used to gather a detailed developmental history. We will provide a detailed report with specific recommendations to improve management of educational, occupational or interpersonal difficulties.

ADHD Diagnostic Assessment

We provide a comprehensive diagnostic service for adults with problems of inattention, impulsivity and hyperactivity as well as difficulties with organization and planning. In adults these symptoms frequently overlap with other disorders including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, substance misuse, bipolar disorder and personality or behavioural disorders. The assessment for ADHD will make a differential diagnosis between ADHD and these difficulties. The assessment involves a detailed clinical interview, review of school reports if available and completion of standardised psychometric instruments.
